Having painted throughout her childhood, Susan studied then practised medicine which offered a rare artistic education in the form, movement and wonder of the mind and body. She went on to study painting with David Brackston, Nick Andrew and John Meaker who shared their knowledge of classical technique, design, and colour.

“I have become particularly interested in the use of space, placement and balance in a painting. I am becoming more aware of the stillness to be found in movement and the movement present in stillness. My focus has shifted further towards the qualities embodied within a subject.  I am interested in the concept of ‘The Long Now’ – a slow-crafted process of production, and a slow-crafted process of viewing.”
