Sukey Erland
index | sculpture
Sukey was born in Hampshire in 1927 and studied at Farnham and then Chelsea School of Art. She became Director of Ceramics London Limited and lectured in 3D studies at Chelsea Westminster Institute, moving to Somerset in 1985 where she established a sculpture studio.
As well as lively studies of wildlife and domestic animals, Sukey sometimes chooses a mythological subject and carves in stone instead of modelling in clay. Most of her work is cast in bronze or bronze resin.
“As a child I roamed the countryside on my ponies – this gave me a lifelong passion for wildlife and domestic animals.”
