Membership





Applicants are expected to show a portfolio of work to current members at the AGM or other specified date and will need to gain approval of at least 40% of the members, who will vote in a secret ballot. Lobbying is frowned upon.

Associate Members

Applicants voted for by 40% - 50% of members will be offered Associate Membership for a period of two years after which members will decide by the same democratic process whether to offer them Full Membership.

The annual subscription (payable by standing order) for Associates Membership is £45 and includes entry to two exhibitions per year. Two pieces of work for display and two unframed ‘trough’ items may be submitted at each exhibition, all of which are vetted by the curators and there is no guarantee that any will be included. Please note Associates Members are not entitled to vote.



Full Members
Applicants receiving 50% or more votes will be offered
Full Membership. Full Members are expected to be fully involved in the running of the Society, are able to vote and are expected to serve on the Committee as required.

The annual subscription (payable by standing order) for Full Members is £75 and includes entry to two exhibitions per year. Four pieces of work for display and four unframed ‘trough’ items may be submitted at each exhibition with a guarantee that two will be displayed subject to being of suitable size and quality. The annual subscription also includes lunch at the AGM.

 Members are required to accept the conditions laid down in the Constitution

Applicants will be notified as soon as possible of the nearest date at which they may submit work. They will be allocated an area for setting up their work and their exhibition should contain at least two ‘exhibition ready’ works together with supporting studies; also drawings, sketchbooks, CV and a description of working methods.
